About

My very first foray into producing a podcast, born (like all the other podcasts) from the pressures of the pandemic – being trapped with little to do, intense work from home and a lot to deal with.

What struck me in the ‘early’ days of lockdown was how, newly adjusted to our life under even more Government control than usual, “we” seemed to be lapping it up.

The podcast name was borne from the idea that if we were just to lock down for three more weeks, it’d all be fine. A very British phenomenon, on par with “asking you to contribute a little more” when tax rises are imposed.

The concept borne more from my scepticism: fewer than 1 in 10 people (according to YouGov at the time) wanted life to return to normal, praising community spirit and the recovery of wildlife as the reasons, but I couldn’t see it.

This podcast was a way of considering the impact it might have: topic by topic, expert by expert (or, perhaps, more interested party by interested party).

Why just two episodes?

As I reflected in my writing after creating the podcast, I had underestimated how much work a guest-heavy podcast like this would be: securing guests was a challenge, and arranging time to record (even with everyone locked in the house!) was proving challenging.

The podcast was interesting to make, a great concept in the moment (I think) and is here for posterity – the first is always remarkable, I think – but also taught me lots about how to approach a project like this.
